US B-52 bombers fly over Middle East in show of force against Iran: video

BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:15 P.M.) – A US B-52H Stratofortress bomber was seen being airlifted by a KC-10 Extender while it was flying over the Middle East, amid heightened tensions with Iran.

On Sunday, the US Central Command announced that two B-52 strategic bombers had flown over the Middle East for the second time this year, to demonstrate US "deterrence capabilities."

The United States sent bombers in a show of military force, as part of the fifth presence patrol of its kind over the Middle East in the past months.

US helicopter forced to make hard landing in northeast Syria

BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:40 P.M.) – A U.S. Coalition helicopter made a hard landing in northeastern Syria on Monday, the spokesperson for Operation Inherent Resolve Col. Wayne Marotto said this evening.

"A coalition helicopter (UH-60) ISO of OIR conducted a hard landing today at approximately 1100 18JAN21 in NE Syria. The helicopter was on a routine flight. The incident was not the result of hostile activity," Col. Marotto said.

"No coalition members were injured.

BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:25 P.M.) – A large demonstration was held in the administrative capital of Al-Hasakah on Monday, in response to the obstruction of water by the Turkish-backed militants and the closure of a number of exits from the city by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the protesters gathered to condemn the actions of both entities, while further demanding the resumption of the water supply to the city and the reopening of the administrative capital's exits.

"We have contacts with the United States through military channels, not because we recognize the legitimacy of their presence there [in Syria] but simply because it has to act in a certain framework," Lavrov said.

Iran denies any communication with Biden administration

BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:00 P.M.) – On Monday, the director of the Iranian president's office, Mahmoud Vaezi, denied that Tehran was in contact with the new US administration, stressing that Iran had not established any bilateral relations with the Biden administration.

Vaezi said that the next US administration should restore conditions to what they were before Donald Trump's presidency, stressing, "we are serious about that."

In an interview with the Iranian Tasnim Agency, the director of the Iranian president's office called for the lifting of all sanctions imposed during the Trump era on entities and people in Iran, noting that "the Iranian policy with the new American administration will be commitment in exchange for commitment and implementation of measures in exchange for implementing measures and data in exchange for data."

Sudan demands Ethiopia withdraw its forces from 'occupied territories' and halt military buildup

BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:40 P.M.) – On Sunday evening, the Sudanese Security and Defense Council appealed to Ethiopia to "withdraw its forces from the remaining positions it still occupies in Maraghad, Khor Hamar and Ghatar as soon as possible in compliance with international treaties and the sustainability of good-neighborly relations."

The Sudanese Defense Minister, Lieutenant General Yassin Ibrahim Yassin, stated that "the council was informed of the developments on the eastern borders," saying that "despite the military mobilization and build-up carried out by Ethiopia in the areas facing our forces in Al-Fashaqa, we confirm that our forces will remain in their lands in order to preserve sovereignty stipulated in the charters and agreements that affirm Sudan's entitlement," the Sudanese News Agency (SUNA) reported.
