eclectic post-jazz

SKM banda is an instrumental quartet, which became one of the most interesting slovenian alternative bands in the last few years.

The beginning of the band goes back into the year 2000 when the original band members met for the first time. After few years they named them selves after a local hero from the 2nd World War, Stefan Kovac-Marko.

In the past years SKM banda established their general image and sound, defined as eclectic post-jazz. The instrumental fusion of rock, jazz, funk, noise and post-rock-based hardcore - made by two guitars and rhythm-section - enables the listener to discover the undiscovered. From melancholy to funky rhythms and furthermore explosive pieces – the quartet has it all!

Their first album was Patentat, published by God Bless This Mess records in 2005. The second album Samar Janka (GBTM Rec.) was released in 2008 and it got considerable attention. Among other things it was voted the second-best Slovenian album of 2008 by the music staff of Radio Študent and was one of the top ten Slovenian albums of 2008 in RSQ Magazine.

In May 2010 SKM banda released their first live-DVD album Izstekani (from a concert at Izstekani live show with Jure Longyka on Radio Slovenia). Also in May they played a concert in Krizanke (summer theatre in LJ) at Druga godba festival.

In 2011: releasing new album (entitled Rdeci) in April and European tour.
