UNKILLED WORKER is the alter-ego of Torr, singer and guitarist of the Prague, Czech Republic based hardcore/noise rock band WOLLONGONG. Armed with the stark backdrop of cheap, semi-acoustic guitars, and even starker vocals, and with more drive and passion than attempts at musical prowess, UNKILLED WORKER makes dark, primitive blues with gospel and punk influences. UNKILLED WORKER has released one 7” split single with Aran Epochal on SILVER ROCKET RECORDS, and the full length LP 'Faithcollapse' was released also on SILVER ROCKET in 2009. Tours with OTK, Troy Von Balthazar, Allroh, and shows supporting such acts as the Glorytellers, Windsor for the Derby, Scott Kelly and New Model Army may help illustrate the UKW path.
The Canadian born Torr helped found the chaotic noise-core trio WOLLONGONG in Prague in the late 1990s. To date they have released two full-length albums (KNOW EVIL – 2001, STARKNAKEDCREEPINGMACROECONOMICFASCISM – 2004) on the Czech independent labels SILVER ROCKET and MALARIE, as well as one split 7” with Silver Rocket label mate LYSSA, and appearances on a number of compilations. In support of the releases, WOLLONGONG have gone on 4 European tours and played in a total of 18 countries. They have shared the stage with bands such as UNSANE, SEX/VID, COLISEUM, PART CHIMP, and CHOKEBORE.
UNKILLED WORKER represents a dramatic departure from the unrelenting sonic assault of WOLLONGONG. Compositions evolving from traditional arrangements are played with defiance and power, creating semi-acoustic soundscapes which are at times raw and heavy, at others minimal and stark. The resulting struggle between instrumental sparseness and density serves as a nervous backdrop to dialogues and diatribes concerning post-citizen crises related to employment, morality, information, justice, communication, and loneliness.
